Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Habitability Lawyer (Associate Attorney) for a hybrid role in Los Angeles, CA. This position offers an opportunity to manage a caseload independently while assisting the Habitability Department Head on significant cases. The role is ideal for an attorney eager to enhance litigation skills and advocate for tenants in challenging living conditions.

Duties

  • Manage a full caseload of habitability matters from intake through resolution.
  • Conduct client interviews, investigations, discovery, depositions, negotiations, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Appear for court hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Collaborate with senior partners, support staff, and experts to develop winning case strategies.
  • Maintain strong client communication and provide compassionate, client-centered representation.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation experience required.
  • Experience in habitability law preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be independent.
  • A team player attitude, no job too big or too small.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • California State Bar admission.

Skills

  • Familiarity with Slack, Filevine, Dropbox, and other legal tools preferred.
