A mission-driven, boutique law firm is seeking a dedicated Estate Planning and Elder Law Attorney to join its hybrid practice based in Chatham, New York. Location

Duties

  • Manage estate planning and elder law matters from start to finish

  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other planning documents (ranging from simple to complex)

  • Advise clients on estate and elder law options with clarity and compassion

  • Supervise support staff on document preparation and trust funding

  • Collaborate with financial advisors and insurance professionals

  • Participate in community engagement through workshops, webinars, and educational events

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in estate planning and/or elder law

  • Proven ability to work directly with clients and communicate complex legal topics clearly

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in case management

  • Familiarity with and willingness to use modern legal technologies (Zoom, MS Office, CRM systems, etc.)

  • Personable and community-focused approach to legal service

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the State of New York

Skills

  • Strong drafting and analytical skills in estate planning and elder law

  • Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills

  • Ability to manage caseload independently while working collaboratively within a team

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable in a hybrid work setting

  • Bonus: Experience with Medicaid planning, irrevocable trusts, probate, or estate administration
