Job Overview: A law firm in Ridgeland, MS, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will direct and lead files, provide initial case analysis, develop strategic plans, conduct discovery, take depositions, draft motions, attend hearings, negotiate settlements, and assist with and lead trials. The ideal candidate will be a current member of the Mississippi Bar or about to be sworn in, with a minimum of 1+ years of experience in General Liability Defense.

Duties:

  • Direct and manage case files from inception to resolution.
  • Provide initial case analysis and develop comprehensive case strategies.
  • Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Take depositions and prepare deposition summaries.
  • Draft and file motions, pleadings, and legal briefs.
  • Attend and represent clients at hearings and pre-trial conferences.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Assist with and lead trials, including preparing materials and presenting court cases.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to ensure effective case management.

Requirements:

  • Must be a current member of the Mississippi Bar in good standing or about to be sworn in.
  • Minimum of 1+ year of experience in General Liability Defense.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Mississippi Bar or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research and case management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with trial preparation and courtroom procedures.
