Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney in Houston, TX, to join their mission-driven team. The role involves managing client representation in asylum and employment-based immigration matters, with occasional travel required across the U.S. The position offers a hybrid work schedule and requires a commitment to helping immigrants secure safety and stability.

Duties

  • Prepare and file asylum applications, supporting affidavits, and legal briefs.
  • Draft and compile EB-2 NIW and EB-1 petitions, including support letters.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analyze country conditions.
  • Prepare clients for asylum interviews and immigration court hearings.
  • Represent clients before EOIR and USCIS, both remotely and in person.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Supervise paralegals or junior attorneys as needed.
  • Perform other tasks to support the team and ensure client success.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in affirmative and defensive asylum cases.
  • Fluency in Russian preferred.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel for work.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.
