Civil Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a full-time Civil Litigation Associate Attorney in San Mateo, California. The successful candidate will independently manage day-to-day file handling and support partners and associates in various litigation tasks. This role requires experience in all phases of litigation, including depositions, drafting summary judgments, and trial preparation.

Duties

• Conduct initial case analysis and investigation.
• Prepare and review pleadings and motions, including summary judgments.
• Draft and manage discovery documents and deposition notices.
• Prepare case management conference statements and attend conferences.
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions and briefs.
• Participate in ADR proceedings.

Requirements

• Member of the California Bar.
• Graduate of an accredited law school.
• 3+ years of experience in a legal environment.
• Strong knowledge of civil procedure and evidence.
• Experience with trial litigation practices and procedures.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active California Bar membership.

Skills

• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, Clio, Acrobat, and legal billing software.
• Proficient in using HotDocs base programs (for bother Judicial Council Forms and CACI Jury Instructions).
• Experience with electronic filing in federal courts.
• Proficient in using Dragon NaturallySpeaking software.
