Job Overview:

A distinguished law firm based in New York City is seeking a motivated associate attorney to join its Tax and Private Client group. This role involves advising multinational businesses and affluent individuals on intricate international tax strategies, planning structures, and transactional guidance. The ideal candidate will bring experience, precision, and professionalism to a fast-paced, collaborative legal environment.

Duties:

  • Advise corporate and individual clients on sophisticated cross-border tax matters

  • Support international tax planning efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings

  • Draft memoranda and legal analyses on U.S. federal income tax issues

  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on diverse client matters

  • Analyze tax implications of complex financial and business transactions

  • Participate in high-level client meetings and assist with strategy development

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and produce well-reasoned written work

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with a focus on international or cross-border matters

  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal income taxation, including subchapter C and subchapter K

  • Experience with inbound and outbound international tax planning preferred

  • Excellent project management and multitasking abilities in deadline-driven environments

  • Strong client service mindset and a collaborative work ethic

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (active and in good standing)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Strategic thinking and analytical capability

  • Ability to manage multiple complex assignments independently and with a team

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment
