Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in Oakland, CA is seeking a driven mid-level litigation associate to join its dynamic dispute resolution team. Duties:

  • Handle a broad range of litigation matters, from case initiation to resolution

  • Represent clients in business disputes and regulatory challenges, particularly in emerging industries

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with precision and strategy

  • Manage discovery, including depositions, subpoenas, and document review

  • Assist with trial preparation and participate in hearings and trials

  • Collaborate closely with senior litigators and clients to develop case strategies

  • Stay informed on regulatory changes affecting clients, especially within cannabis-related industries

  • Provide legal counsel to clients across diverse sectors beyond cannabis, including startups and other entrepreneurial ventures

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience in a law firm or equivalent setting

  • Demonstrated interest or curiosity in cannabis law or emerging regulatory fields

  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical capabilities

  • Comfortable handling increasing levels of responsibility and client interaction

  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced setting

  • Adaptable team player with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset

  • A sense of humor and professional demeanor are valued

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in California (active and in good standing)

Skills:

  • Courtroom advocacy and motion practice

  • Legal research and case strategy development

  • Client communication and relationship management

  • Experience with commercial disputes and/or regulatory litigation preferred

  • Efficient workload management and attention to deadlines

  • Interest in working with startups, entrepreneurs, and regulated industries
