Job Overview:
A respected law firm with offices across California is hiring a mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Environment & Land Use practice group. This role offers the opportunity to work on significant projects across a wide range of sectors including renewable energy, transportation, public infrastructure, utilities, and commercial/residential development. The position provides early responsibility, a collaborative hybrid work environment, and access to cross-practice support from experienced attorneys.

Location:

  • Phoenix, AZ

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and provide counsel on environmental and land use regulations

  • Manage environmental and land use due diligence for development projects

  • Guide clients through land use entitlements and environmental/resource permitting processes

  • Provide legal advice on CEQA and NEPA compliance

  • Defend zoning and environmental approvals in state and federal court

  • Collaborate with attorneys in related practice areas on major infrastructure and development projects

Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of experience in environmental and/or land use law

  • Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, and permitting processes

  • Demonstrated interest in environmental law and regulatory compliance

  • Litigation experience in land use or environmental matters is advantageous

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the State Bar of California (required)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting

  • Effective communication and client counseling capabilities

  • Organizational and time management proficiency
