Job Overview

A law firm seeks a knowledgeable and experienced Tax Attorney in Fort Lauderdale, FL, to provide counsel on federal, state, and international tax issues, represent clients in disputes, and advise on tax planning strategies. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in tax law and a proactive approach to client service.

Duties

  • Advise clients on complex tax matters, including income, estate, gift, and corporate taxation.
  • Structure business transactions to optimize tax outcomes.
  • Prepare and review tax memoranda, legal opinions, and client communications.
  • Represent clients in audits, appeals, and litigation with IRS and state tax authorities.
  • Conduct due diligence and risk assessment for mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.
  • Collaborate with accountants, financial advisors, and internal legal teams.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and IRS regulations.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active Bar membership in Florida.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant tax law experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or in-house legal department.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused mindset.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in Florida.

Skills

  • Proficiency with legal research tools related to tax law.
  • Experience with international tax planning or cross-border transactions (preferred).
  • Familiarity with tax implications of estate planning or trust structures (preferred).
