Civil Litigation Attorney

A law firm seeks a Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing Transportation team in San Diego, California. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least 5 years of experience in defending catastrophic personal injury claims. Duties

• Defend clients in high-stakes litigation involving catastrophic personal injury claims, particularly in the transportation sector.
• Manage a caseload independently, overseeing all aspects of litigation including discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Draft, review, and respond to discovery requests.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses, experts, and parties involved in the case.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and represent them in mediation.
• Prepare motions and legal briefs, presenting compelling arguments to judges.
• Attend court hearings and trials, advocate for clients, and present evidence and testimony.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support litigation strategy and case preparation.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to refine defense strategies.
• Continuously develop expertise in transportation defense and personal injury law.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury defense.
• Proven experience in managing all phases of litigation, including trial experience.
• Strong legal writing and research skills, with the ability to craft persuasive motions and briefs.
• Excellent oral communication and advocacy skills, particularly in court proceedings.
• Ability to handle complex legal issues and find innovative solutions to challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage a diverse caseload.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar (or eligibility to practice in California).
