Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in Newport Beach, CA, is actively seeking a full-time Litigation Associate with a focus on civil litigation and insurance defense. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic legal setting that values teamwork, initiative, and precision. Exposure to medical malpractice matters is beneficial but not mandatory.

Duties:

• Handle an active docket of litigation matters from inception through resolution

• Draft, serve, and respond to written discovery

• Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

• Prepare legal memoranda, motions, and other pleadings

• Engage in substantive legal research and analysis

• Participate in court appearances—both in person and via remote platforms

• Collaborate with supervising attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation

• Support all stages of litigation, including pre-trial and potential trial proceedings

Requirements:

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California

• Medical Malpractice is a plus.

• Trial experience is a plus.

• Demonstrated proficiency in legal writing and oral advocacy

• Courtroom experience, including virtual appearances

• Familiarity with case management and litigation workflows

• Ability to manage time effectively while handling competing priorities

• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• California Bar License (mandatory)

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and writing ability

• High attention to detail and organizational skills

• Strong command of Microsoft Office 365

• Comfortable working both independently and within a collaborative team

• Adaptability in a high-volume, fast-moving litigation environment
