Job Overview:
A leading litigation-focused law firm is seeking a Mass and Toxic Tort Litigation Associate Attorney for its Columbia, SC office. This full-time role is ideal for a motivated attorney with at least three years of litigation experience, preferably in asbestos and/or talc-related cases. The position offers the opportunity to handle complex, high-stakes defense matters involving toxic torts, while working in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.

Location:

  • Columbia, SC

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, pleadings, and discovery responses

  • Take and defend depositions in complex litigation matters

  • Assist with trial preparation and participate in trial proceedings

  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court

  • Manage caseloads, meet litigation deadlines, and adhere to procedural rules

  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals on litigation strategy and case development

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience

  • Prior experience in mass tort and/or toxic tort litigation strongly preferred

  • Admitted to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team performance

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina

  • In good standing with the South Carolina State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • Proficient in legal research platforms and litigation management tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • High attention to detail and accuracy
