Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Attorney to join its team in Carrollton, TX. The firm specializes in debt recovery litigation, providing comprehensive solutions for major banks and creditors. This role offers a commission-eligible opportunity with no billable hour requirement, focusing on attorney-negotiated settlements.

Duties

  • Review and approve new claims within jurisdiction.
  • Assist with management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory.
  • Conduct document review and discovery.
  • Execute documents requiring signature.
  • Communicate case details with Managing Attorney.
  • Monitor legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law.
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems.
  • Analyze probable outcomes of cases using legal precedents.
  • Prepare and file legal documents.
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation.
  • Work with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, or other parties to settle files.
  • Oversee and interact with outside collections and defense counsel.
  • Support corporate compliance with debt collection laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State of Texas.
  • Collection experience preferred; training available.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with staff, opposing counsel, and courts.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited institution by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and familiarity with courtroom and civil procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in internet and online research.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to represent the firm in various forums.
