Job Overview

A law firm seeks attorneys at both the Associate and Senior Associate/Partner levels to join their Buffalo, NY office. This opportunity is ideal for motivated practitioners looking to take on leadership roles within a well-established firm that offers a modern and collegial environment.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research using platforms such as Westlaw.
  • Draft legal documents, including Petitions, Motions, and Orders to Show Cause.
  • Handle client interactions, meetings, and calls.
  • Manage case files from start to finish independently.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver excellent client service.
  • Handle complex divorce and family law matters, including custody and child support.
  • Lead settlement negotiations, mediations, and collaborative law matters.
  • Serve as lead counsel in litigation, including discovery and trials.
  • Supervise and mentor associates and support staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Contribute to business development and firm growth.
  • Provide strategic leadership within the practice group.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and court rules.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admission in good standing to the New York State Bar.
  • Strong organizational and detail-orientation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in divorce and family law preferred for senior roles.
  • Proven ability to manage complex matrimonial litigation as lead counsel.
  • Strong negotiation skills; mediation and collaborative law training preferred.
  • Established client base and business development experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with local courts, judges, and procedures.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission in good standing to the New York State Bar.
