Job Title: Partner-Level Attorney - Income Principal

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in New York City, NY, seeks an experienced Franchise Principal Attorney to join its expanding business practice group. This leadership-level opportunity involves representing a broad range of businesses across various industries on intricate franchise-related matters. The role offers the chance to collaborate with skilled attorneys nationwide and to support clients throughout the franchise lifecycle, including complex compliance, regulatory, transactional, and dispute matters.

Duties:

  • Advise franchisors, franchisees, manufacturers, and distributors on franchise structuring, compliance, and licensing.

  • Draft and negotiate Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs), Franchise Agreements, and related contractual documents.

  • Manage franchise registration processes and advise on federal and state franchise laws compliance.

  • Handle franchise relationship issues, including renewals, terminations, and transfers.

  • Counsel clients on governmental investigations, enforcement actions, and dispute resolution matters.

  • Collaborate with attorneys in diverse practice areas to deliver comprehensive client support.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor on franchise expansion and operational planning.

  • Maintain active client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of specialized experience handling franchise law matters.

  • Demonstrated ability to represent both franchisors and franchisees.

  • Strong understanding of offering documentation, compliance obligations, and franchise-related regulatory frameworks.

  • Capability to manage independent caseloads and contribute to collaborative team projects.

  • A portable book of business is required (partial or full).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with the ability to become licensed in New York if not already.

Skills:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities.

  • Advanced legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills.
