Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney licensed in New York to join their team in Cranford, NJ. The role involves managing mortgage and lending client case portfolios across New York State, from assignment to conclusion.

Duties

  • Draft legal pleadings, notices of hearings, motions, and orders.
  • Research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, and legal articles.
  • Update case management system to ensure data integrity.
  • Travel to court and client sites as necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate with clients and internal staff.
  • Identify legal issues requiring additional review.
  • Manage a high volume of files with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Attend hearings, settlement conferences, and court appearances.
  • Review and correct case work prepared by paralegals.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active New York State Bar Admission in good standing.
  • Willingness to travel within the tri-state area.
  • Experience with New York procedural law, NYCPLR, RPAPL, and RPL.
  • Litigation skills including drafting motions and conducting oral arguments.
  • Experience in Creditor's Rights, Default, eviction, and/or bankruptcy preferred.
  • Familiarity with client systems like Black Knight preferred.
  • Experience with electronic case management systems, such as CaseAware preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Education

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • New York State Bar Admission, active and in good standing.
