Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Trust and Estate Planning Associate to join their dynamic legal team in New Haven, CT. This role offers the opportunity to work with high-net-worth clients and family offices, providing sophisticated estate planning and fiduciary services.

Duties

  • Draft sophisticated estate planning documents and multi-generational trusts.
  • Advise high-net-worth individuals, families, and fiduciaries on estate planning and wealth transfers.
  • Educate clients on high-end planning strategies.
  • Assist in the administration of complex trust and investment structures.
  • Create tax-efficient structures for domestic and multinational clients.
  • Redesign existing trust and investment structures to meet client goals.
  • Assist in tax compliance, including review and preparation of tax returns.

Requirements

  • Strong academic credentials (J.D. required; LL.M. is a plus).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Trusts and Estates.
  • Connecticut Bar admission (or eligibility to waive in) required.
  • Strong drafting, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Domestic estate planning experience required.
  • International planning, income tax, and/or estate administration experience a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) required.
  • LL.M. is a plus.

Certifications

  • Connecticut Bar admission (or eligibility to waive in).
