Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 5–7 years of municipal law experience to join its Frisco, TX office. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work directly with city governments, advising on a broad range of municipal matters including land use, development, annexation, and compliance with state and local codes. Ideal candidates are self-driven, detail-oriented legal professionals who thrive in fast-paced, service-driven environments.

Location:

  • Frisco, TX

Duties:

  • Advise municipal clients on a wide range of legal matters including:

    • Land use, zoning, annexation, and development

    • Subdivision regulations and special districts (e.g., PIDs)

    • Open meetings, open records, elections, contracts, and procurement

  • Draft, review, and amend city codes, ordinances, and resolutions

  • Negotiate and prepare agreements including:

    • Development, reimbursement, utility, and real estate agreements

    • Impact fee and tax abatement agreements

    • Economic development (Chapter 380) incentive agreements

  • Review and approve city council agendas in accordance with legal requirements

  • Collaborate with city officials, developers, and engineers on planning and development matters

  • Conduct legal research on municipal laws and regulations

  • Provide legal opinions and policy guidance to city councils and boards

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas

  • 5–7 years of experience in municipal or local government law

  • Experience in land use, planning, annexation, and real estate preferred

  • Ability to travel in-state for client meetings and city functions

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage complex legal issues

  • Excellent organizational, research, and analytical abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, legal document drafting, and time management software

  • Professionalism and ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders
