Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is currently seeking a Trademark Associate with 3 to 7 years of experience to join its Intellectual Property practice group. The position involves a full spectrum of trademark and copyright responsibilities, including prosecution, enforcement, and portfolio management. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented attorney interested in a strategic and client-focused trademark practice within a collaborative legal environment.

Location:

  • Buffalo, NY

Duties:

  • Assist with all phases of domestic and international trademark and copyright matters

  • Conduct trademark searches and provide risk assessments for clearance and usage

  • Prepare and prosecute trademark applications through the USPTO

  • Maintain and manage global trademark portfolios for clients across multiple industries

  • Advise clients on enforcement strategies, including cease-and-desist letters and opposition/cancellation actions

  • Support litigation related to trademark and copyright infringement

  • Handle copyright registration and protection strategies

  • Collaborate with cross-functional legal teams to provide comprehensive IP counsel

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of relevant legal experience in trademark and copyright law

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple trademark matters and deadlines

  • Experience in portfolio management, prosecution, and enforcement actions

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (NY or NJ preferred based on office location)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in USPTO practices and procedures

  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities

  • Detail-oriented with sound legal judgment

  • Capable of working both independently and within a team environment
