Associate - General Liability - Hybrid

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate to join the General Liability practice group in Garden City, NY. The role involves managing a variety of general liability defense litigation matters within New York, with some local travel required for trials and court conferences.

Duties

• Manage day-to-day case handling.
• Analyze complex legal and factual issues to provide well-reasoned legal recommendations.
• Draft pleadings, answer written discovery, and conduct depositions, arbitrations, and trials.
• Communicate effectively with clients, courts, witnesses, and opposing counsel.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience, preferably in defense litigation.
• Active NY bar license in good standing; NJ license is a plus.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to travel mostly within NY for court appearances.
• Experience with drafting pleadings, answering discovery, and conducting depositions and trials.
• Interest in liability defense, with preference for experience in motor vehicle or premises liability.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active NY bar license.
