Law and Motion Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Law and Motion Attorney to join their landlord-tenant team in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will assist in filing and trying unlawful detainer cases on behalf of clients.

Duties

• Draft motions and oppositions for unlawful detainer cases.
• Negotiate stipulations and settlement agreements.
• Prepare cases for trial, including drafting trial briefs and motions in limine.
• Research and advise clients on bankruptcy cases.
• Perform legal research and provide recommendations on legal issues.
• Respond to client questions to increase and retain business.
• Assist with occasional court appearances.
• Attend local property management events to increase firm visibility.

Requirements

• J.D. and an active California Bar license.
• 2+ years' experience as a licensed California attorney.
• Admission to central district.
• General overview of civil litigation.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Familiarity with Lexis or other legal research software.

Education

• Graduate degree.

Certifications

• Active California Bar license.

Skills

• Experience with case management databases preferred.
• Law & Motion experience preferred.
• Some contact with the rental housing industry preferred.
