Job Overview:
A law firm based in Providence, RI, seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Immigration Associate Attorney to provide client-focused legal services across a range of immigration matters. This role involves independently managing routine legal issues, contributing to strategic case planning, and serving as a primary point of contact for clients. Duties:

  • Deliver legal guidance and case status updates to clients on routine immigration matters

  • Conduct client consultations and assist with in-person meetings, such as interviews

  • Develop a legal strategy for assigned cases and manage case progression

  • Draft responses and filings, particularly in complex scenarios unsuitable for support staff

  • Coordinate with support staff to prepare and finalize legal documentation

  • Maintain communication with clients to ensure timely and effective responses

  • Lead or participate in team case status meetings with legal assistants and paralegals

  • Review and approve legal documents before final submission

  • Ensure client records are maintained in a legally compliant and organized manner

  • Stay informed on immigration law changes and agency practice updates

  • Engage in relevant professional development activities

  • Attend client or industry-related events, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience in immigration law preferred

  • Prior involvement with E-2 and L visa cases is advantageous

  • Ability to handle common immigration law matters independently, while recognizing when to escalate

  • Skilled in managing multiple cases and meeting deadlines

  • Proven awareness of client needs and legal nuances

  • Demonstrated initiative and a teamwork mindset

  • Commitment to learning and professional growth

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar and good standing

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and verbal communication abilities

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Effective multitasking and prioritization under pressure

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Quick adaptability to firm-specific case management software

  • Excellent time management and workflow coordination
