Job Overview: A prestigious law firm is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Patent Litigation Attorney with 1 to 3 years of experience to join its Los Angeles office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle significant patent infringement cases across various industries, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, software, hardware, and telecommunications. The position involves a broad range of patent-related work, including district court litigation, Federal Circuit appeals, PTAB proceedings, and patent-adjacent matters such as antitrust and trade secrets. Candidates will be exposed to high-stakes cases with opportunities for early responsibility and client interaction.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Represent clients in patent infringement litigation in district courts.
  • Assist with Federal Circuit appeals and PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) proceedings.
  • Support tech transactions and patent-adjacent cases such as antitrust and trade secret disputes.
  • Participate in case strategy development, legal briefings, and depositions.
  • Contribute to trial preparation and execution.
  • Engage in client communication and provide strategic advice on complex legal matters.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other teams to manage high-profile cases.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in patent litigation.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and litigation processes.
  • Experience with district court litigation and Federal Circuit appeals.
  • Technical degree or relevant work experience preferred but not required.
  • Patent Office registration is a plus, but not mandatory at the outset.
  • Proven litigation and writing skills, including case strategy and legal drafting.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Significant client contact and involvement in case management.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance and high-ranking in class at a top-tier law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California Bar is preferred but not required initially.
  • Patent Office registration is a plus but not necessary at the start.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent law and litigation.
  • Familiarity with Federal Circuit appeals and PTAB proceedings.
  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical background or technical degree is advantageous.
