Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced attorney with a strong foundation in corporate law to step into an established practice handling a wide array of business clients. This role involves managing a thriving portfolio of clients inherited from a retiring partner and expanding the practice through continued excellence in client service and business development. The ideal candidate will possess sharp legal insight, strong client engagement skills, and a proactive approach to corporate advisory work.

Duties:

• Take ownership of a well-established and active book of business clients

• Advise on corporate structuring, entity formation, governance, and compliance issues

• Lead and negotiate complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions

• Draft and review commercial contracts and agreements

• Collaborate with legal professionals across other disciplines within the firm

• Maintain strong, trust-based client relationships with consistent, high-level service

• Engage in strategic initiatives to grow the corporate practice

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in Michigan

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in corporate law, preferably within a private firm environment

• Demonstrated expertise in handling business transactions and corporate legal matters

• Client-focused mindset with a record of fostering long-term business relationships

• Comfortable assuming immediate responsibility for high-value legal matters

• While a portable book of business is not required, candidates bringing client relationships are welcome

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Michigan State Bar (or ability to obtain admission promptly)

Skills:
