Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected boutique law firm located in Scottsdale, AZ, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with experience in tax law, business transactions, and estate planning. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals in a growing practice dedicated to supporting families and businesses in navigating complex financial and legal matters. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage a diverse workload in a client-focused environment.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in tax audits, administrative proceedings, and tax court litigation

  • Draft and review legal agreements related to business formations, mergers, reorganizations, and acquisitions

  • Provide legal counsel in general business matters and entity structuring

  • Prepare estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney

  • Form LLCs and develop customized operating agreements

  • Conduct legal research and stay current on tax codes, estate law, and corporate regulations

  • Negotiate on behalf of clients in transactional and regulatory matters

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in tax law, business transactions, or estate planning

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona

  • Familiarity with IRS administrative processes and U.S. Tax Court procedures

  • Strong understanding of tax compliance and business structuring

  • Proven client interaction and case management experience

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • CPA credential preferred

Skills:

  • Advanced legal research capabilities (LexisNexis, Westlaw)

  • High-level drafting and analytical skills for contracts, tax documents, and legal correspondence

  • Effective verbal and written communication, especially with clients, regulators, and opposing parties

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage time-sensitive assignments

  • Comfortable handling both litigation and transactional matters
