Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A prominent law firm based in Carmel, NC, is seeking a licensed attorney to join its transactional real estate practice. This role supports residential and builder-focused closings, offering legal guidance throughout the property transfer lifecycle. From initial documentation through final disbursement and title review, the attorney will ensure all legal, regulatory, and procedural standards are met. The role involves regular client interaction, risk mitigation, and document execution to ensure smooth, compliant closings.

Duties:

Real Estate Closings & Signings

  • Facilitate in-person signings for residential and builder closings

  • Ensure all signatures and notarizations comply with state and jurisdictional requirements

Document Preparation & Review

  • Draft and vet contracts, deeds, leases, and related real estate documents

  • Maintain precision and legal compliance across all transaction-related paperwork

Financial Oversight

  • Examine settlement statements to verify the accuracy of disbursements and costs

  • Ensure alignment with transaction terms and lender requirements

Loan & Title Review

  • Inspect loan packages and closing documents for legal and procedural compliance

  • Identify and address issues in title reports and clear any encumbrances affecting marketability

Client Advisory

  • Deliver legal analysis and direction related to real estate transactions

  • Resolve concerns or disputes arising during the closing process

Due Diligence & Risk Management

  • Analyze inspections, surveys, and third-party reports for legal implications

  • Guide clients through title insurance options and coverage specifics

Builder Transactions

  • Perform in-depth title reviews for new construction transactions

  • Address liens, encumbrances, or easements affecting title clearance

Business Development

  • Engage in outreach and relationship-building within the real estate ecosystem

  • Support growth by fostering strong ties with agents, builders, and lenders

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law and an active member in good standing with the relevant state bar

  • Commissioned Notary Public in the applicable jurisdiction

  • Proven experience handling real estate closings and builder transactions

  • Deep knowledge of state and municipal property laws, zoning, and title procedures

  • Familiarity with title insurance and underwriting principles

  • Strong analytical thinking and issue-spotting ability

  • Comfort managing competing priorities in high-volume environments

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active state bar admission

  • Notary Public commission

Skills:

  • Clear, professional communication with clients, lenders, and stakeholders

  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal parties

  • Detail-oriented drafting and review of real estate documents
