A distinguished law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join its team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to advocate for individuals navigating the complexities of U.S. immigration law. The ideal candidate will have a passion for assisting immigrants and their families, ensuring they receive the best possible legal guidance. This position involves client engagement, case strategy development, and collaboration with legal professionals to deliver high-quality representation.

Duties

  • Conduct client consultations via virtual platforms and in-person
  • Provide strategic legal advice regarding immigration matters
  • Work closely with the intake team to assess potential cases
  • Supervise the legal team in preparing petitions, applications, and legal briefs
  • Draft legal documents, including motions and responses to complex Requests for Evidence (RFEs)
  • Research and analyze immigration laws, regulations, and precedents
  • Represent clients before USCIS, immigration courts, and other relevant agencies
  • Attend interviews and hearings as required
  • Produce short educational videos to provide immigration-related guidance
  • Participate in firm meetings and collaborate with internal teams to optimize case outcomes
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and bar associations
  • Engage in pro bono or low bono representation for victims of domestic violence
  • Maintain thorough documentation of case progress and client communications

Requirements

  • Active Bar admission in any U.S. state (Texas, California, or New York preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in immigration law, with a strong grasp of family-based and employment-based immigration processes
  • Fluent in English and either Spanish or Chinese (both written and verbal communication)
  • Ability to analyze complex cases and provide strategic legal solutions
  • Strong communication and client management skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Commitment to maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in a state bar association

Skills

  • Expertise in immigration law, including visas, waivers, and petitions
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Effective problem-solving abilities with a results-driven approach
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in case management software and digital communication tools
