A law firm seeks a mid-level Associate in Syosset, NY, to join their rapidly growing team. The firm specializes in defending high exposure cases across various practice areas in both State and Federal Court, including Premises Liability, Catastrophic Injury, and New York Labor Law. Duties

  • Manage individual caseload from inception through trial.
  • Draft and respond to pleadings and discovery.
  • Analyze medical, workers' compensation, and employment records.
  • Take and defend depositions of party and non-party witnesses.
  • Coordinate with Liability and Damages Experts.
  • Draft and argue discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Analyze risk transfer opportunities and draft tender letters.
  • Appear for court conferences and motion arguments.
  • Prepare cases for mediation/arbitration.
  • Assist in trial preparations and potential trial attendance.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license in good standing in New York.
  • License in New York General Liability, New York Labor Law, and/or Personal Injury defense required.
  • License to practice in New Jersey or willingness to gain admission to other states preferred.
  • 4-6 years practicing law with at least 3 years in relevant areas preferred.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ProLaw, Excel, and e-document management software preferred.
  • Prior remote work experience preferred.

Education

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license in good standing in New York.
