Associate Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Manassas, VA. This role offers a hybrid work environment and the opportunity to engage in meaningful criminal defense work. The position is open to both part-time and full-time candidates, providing immediate courtroom experience and mentorship from senior attorneys.

Duties

• Appear in General District and Circuit Courts for hearings, motions, trials, and sentencing.
• Handle client intake, discovery, negotiations, legal drafting, and overall case strategy.
• Work collaboratively with legal assistants for seamless case preparation and client communication.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on serious felony and DUI cases.
• Conduct in-depth legal research and craft persuasive pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Maintain meticulous records in a cloud-based CMS.
• Provide clear, compassionate guidance to clients.
• Contribute to firm growth through community outreach and CLE participation.

Requirements

• Active Virginia bar license in good standing.
• 1-5 years' experience in criminal practice (defense, prosecution, or judicial clerkship).
• Confident courtroom presence and strong oral advocacy.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and collaborative.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Active Virginia bar license.

Skills

• Spanish fluency or other language skills preferred.
• Familiarity with Virginia DUI law is a plus.
• Interest in legal content creation, mentoring, or community engagement.
