Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly qualified mid-level associate with privacy expertise to join their team in Boston. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in providing sophisticated privacy counseling to companies in technology, life sciences, and emerging technologies, including AI.

Duties

• Provide privacy counseling to tech, life sciences, and emerging technology companies.
• Draft privacy and data governance agreements and policies.
• Prepare data processing addenda and complex technology transactions.
• Conduct privacy due diligence for corporate transactions.
• Negotiate transaction agreements in privacy equity investments, mergers, and acquisitions.
• Engage in privacy or AI regulatory inquiries or investigations.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of federal and state privacy and AI laws and regulations.
• Experience with FTC Act, COPPA, GLBA, FERPA, CCPA, WMHMDA, BIPA, and emerging AI regulations.
• Outstanding academic credentials and comparable law firm experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Relevant bar admission or eligibility to obtain admission promptly.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in relevant jurisdiction.

• Strong substantive skills in privacy and data protection.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
• Proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex legal documents.
