Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid to senior level associate with expertise in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science to join their Electrical & Computer Technologies group in Boston, Massachusetts. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects at the intersection of technology and biotechnology.

Duties

  • Interface with clients and inventors throughout the patent process.
  • Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications domestically and internationally.
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate, infringement, and patentability analyses.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities or projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-8 years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of machine learning, molecular biology, and sequencing technology.
  • Familiarity with gene editing, immunology, microscopy, and systems biology is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings.

Education

  • Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to the USPTO.

Skills

  • Proficiency in patent prosecution and related analyses.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
