A law firm seeks a highly skilled Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney to join their team in Garden City, New York. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and rewarding estate planning and administration cases. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting estate plan documents, handling estate administration, and advising clients on matters related to trusts and estates. Duties

  • Draft estate planning documents, including Wills, Grantor Trusts, revocable and irrevocable trusts, QPRTs, CRUTs/CRATs, and ILITs.
  • Manage all aspects of estate administration, such as preparing and filing probate and administration petitions, estate tax returns, and estate account management.
  • Facilitate estate distribution, including addressing will contests, accountings, and miscellaneous proceedings.
  • Conduct client meetings to create and implement estate plans and oversee will executions.
  • Provide advice and guidance to trustees, trust beneficiaries, and personal representatives involved in probate administration, trust administration, and related disputes.
  • Research and address complex estate and gift tax issues.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in New York.
  • 3-5 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and estate administration preferred.
  • Strong research and writing abilities, with proficiency in using technological resources for legal research.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and provide clear legal guidance in complex matters.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks and managing deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • New York State Bar Admission (Required).

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting various estate planning documents such as Wills and trusts.
  • Strong understanding of estate and gift tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
