Associate Attorney - Public Entity Labor and Employment

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Sausalito, CA, to join its expanding Public Entity Labor and Employment Practice Group. The successful candidate will work with a high-performing team representing public entity clients throughout California, gaining immediate client-facing experience and handling high-profile matters.

Duties

• Support litigation in trial and appellate courts, including discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Advise public employers on employment law issues, including ADA/FEHA accommodations and FMLA/CFRA compliance.
• Assist with workplace investigations and draft reports.
• Participate in administrative hearings before arbitrators and PERB.
• Support labor relations work, including responding to union requests and preparing discipline notices.
• Draft contracts, separation agreements, and client advisories.
• Research and draft legal opinions for public agency clients.

Requirements

• 1-6 years of labor and employment law or litigation experience; public-sector focus preferred.
• Excellent research and writing ability.
• Strong client communication skills and confidence to handle matters with limited supervision.

Education

• Top 30% of law school class preferred; graduates from highly regarded law schools encouraged to apply.

Certifications

• Bar admission in California.
