Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Oil and Gas Title Attorney to join their team in Columbus, OH. This full-time role involves providing expert legal services to clients in the oil and gas sector, focusing on lands in Appalachia. The position offers opportunities for both in-office and hybrid work environments.

Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
  • Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
  • Draft title opinions identifying defects, liens, or issues affecting property ownership.
  • Perform due diligence reviews for oil and gas transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Provide legal guidance on risks, liabilities, and strategies for mitigating issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Stay updated on relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys when legal action is necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to execute complex legal transactions.
  • Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
  • Engage in continuous learning opportunities.
  • Support other activities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license with at least one year of experience drafting title opinions in Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania.
  • Familiarity with preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
  • Exceptional commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
