A law firm seeks a highly motivated associate attorney to join their team in San Diego, CA, for a hybrid position. This role focuses on workers' compensation defense, offering flexibility with both remote and in-office work opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess strong research, communication, and organizational skills, and have some experience in workers' compensation or insurance defense law. Duties:

  • Manage workers' compensation defense cases from initial consultation through resolution
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to support case strategies
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants to develop case strategies and ensure smooth case progression
  • Represent clients at hearings and in settlement negotiations
  • Maintain accurate case files and adhere to all relevant deadlines
  • Provide regular updates to clients and colleagues, ensuring clear communication and transparency throughout the case process

Requirements:

  • Membership in the California Bar, in good standing
  • Some experience in workers' compensation defense or insurance defense law is required
  • Strong research and analytical abilities to navigate complex legal matters
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for client and team interactions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • High level of organizational skills with attention to detail and efficiency
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active California Bar membership, in good standing

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and case management
  • Strong written advocacy and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with a proactive work ethic
  • Experience with workers' compensation or insurance defense is preferred
