Job Title: Real Estate/Land Use And Zoning Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm based in Denville, NJ, is seeking a motivated attorney to join its high-performing Real Estate and Land Use & Zoning practice group. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated transactions involving commercial real estate, financing arrangements, leasing, and regulatory approvals. The position is ideal for an attorney with a strong foundation in property law who enjoys client interaction, strategic advocacy, and community-facing legal work.

Duties:

  • Manage and advise on commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions

  • Represent both borrowers and lenders in complex financing transactions

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial lease agreements

  • Prepare and present applications before local planning and zoning boards

  • Research and analyze land use regulations and provide counsel on zoning compliance

  • Participate in client meetings, due diligence, and closings

  • Coordinate with engineers, planners, and other professionals as part of development teams

  • Attend and advocate at public hearings and municipal meetings

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing in real estate law, with a focus on land use and zoning

  • Licensed and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar

  • Demonstrated experience in handling legal aspects of commercial property transactions and land development projects

  • Familiarity with municipal procedures and local land use ordinances

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar (mandatory)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities

  • Excellent oral advocacy and public speaking skills

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple ongoing matters
