Estate Planning Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking a driven and knowledgeable associate attorney to support its expanding estate, tax, and business planning practice. This boutique environment offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to clients' long-term financial security while fostering continuous personal and professional development. The role is ideal for an attorney with an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in a collaborative setting and is ready to take on a versatile caseload with direct client interaction.

Duties:

  • Draft estate planning documents, including revocable living trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and health care directives

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on sophisticated income and estate tax strategies

  • Manage trust and probate administration matters

  • Guide clients through all phases of business entity formation and corporate upkeep

  • Provide counsel on corporate governance, entity structuring, tax compliance, and succession planning

  • Review and prepare business agreements and related legal documents

  • Conduct client meetings and manage related correspondence

  • Contribute to thought leadership through writing and editing content

  • Participate in business development activities, including professional networking with CPAs and financial advisors

Requirements:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in estate planning and/or business law

  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients and senior counsel

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centered legal services

  • High ethical standards and a proactive, solutions-focused approach

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California Bar (active status)

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal drafting and analytical capabilities

  • Advanced research proficiency using Lexis, Westlaw, and related tools

  • Strong interpersonal communication and client engagement abilities

  • Solid organizational skills with an eye for detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and legal practice technologies
