A law firm seeks an Estate Planning Attorney for a fully remote position based in Birmingham, AL. This role involves ensuring the legal soundness of estate planning documents, aligning them with client goals, and maintaining high standards. The position is non-client-facing, focusing on high-integrity legal work without court appearances or billable hours.

Duties

  • Perform final reviews of estate planning documents prepared by the paralegal and drafting team.
  • Ensure documents align with client data, comply with state law, and are ready for signing.
  • Conduct post-review approvals following client document review meetings.
  • Review and submit recorded deeds via SimpliFile for compliance.
  • Provide internal guidance to the paralegal team on legal questions.
  • Conduct proofreading and quality control checks on junior paralegal work.
  • Assist with document review meetings or client onboarding tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate on estate plan summary cleanup and onboarding coordination.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years active experience as a licensed attorney.
  • 10 to 25 years of experience preferred.
  • Estate planning experience is strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable working under the supervision of the Lead Attorney.

Education

  • U.S. Juris Doctor degree.

Certifications

  • Valid state bar license (no specific state required).
