Job Overview:

A well-established insurance defense law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join its litigation team in New Orleans, LA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general casualty defense, including auto liability, premises liability, insurance coverage, and bad faith claims. This is a full-time, in-office role that offers an excellent opportunity for courtroom exposure and long-term growth in a supportive, trial-focused environment.

Location:

  • New Orleans, LA

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through trial

  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda

  • Conduct legal research on insurance coverage, bad faith, and liability issues

  • Participate in and take depositions of fact and expert witnesses

  • Represent clients in mediations, hearings, and trials in both State and Federal Courts

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and litigation management

  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance representatives

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of insurance defense litigation experience

  • Experience with auto liability, premises liability, coverage disputes, and bad faith claims

  • Demonstrated ability to handle files independently

  • Trial preparation and courtroom experience strongly preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active license and in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills

  • Strong oral advocacy and deposition skills

  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines

  • Team-oriented with a professional demeanor and strong work ethic

  • Comfortable practicing in both State and Federal Courts
