A law firm seeks an Estate and Trust Administration Attorney in Barrington, IL. This full-time, on-site position involves guiding trustees and executors through all phases of trust and estate administration, ensuring compliance and efficient management of estates.

Duties

  • Guide trustees and executors through trust and estate administration.
  • Review and interpret trust instruments, wills, and related documents.
  • Prepare notices, inventories, accountings, and distribution schedules.
  • Coordinate asset marshaling, valuation, and transfer of property and accounts.
  • Communicate with beneficiaries about administration status and expectations.
  • Advise fiduciaries on duties, risk management, and compliance.
  • Prepare and file petitions for probate or administration.
  • Represent estates and fiduciaries in probate court proceedings.
  • Oversee creditor claim management and resolution of liabilities.
  • Advise on tax implications related to estate administration.
  • Serve as primary contact for clients, beneficiaries, and fiduciaries.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions, courts, and advisors.
  • Support senior attorneys with complex estate matters.
  • Assist with drafting estate-planning documents.
  • Participate in business development and client presentations.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; active state license.
  • 2-7 years of experience in trusts, estates, or probate.
  • Understanding of estate planning instruments and probate procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work with clients sensitively.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and estate administration software.

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
