Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Associate with an advanced degree in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical engineering to join its Intellectual Property Group in New York. The role involves assisting with patent applications, patentability opinions, and patent estate management for a diverse clientele.

Duties

• Handle multiple legal matters from inception to conclusion.
• Communicate effectively with attorneys and clients.
• Work independently and productively in Intellectual Property law.
• Produce quality legal work and meet billing requirements.
• Manage and generate business through group and individual efforts.
• Comply with the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.

Requirements

• 4+ years' experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm.
• Experience in preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications.
• Ability to utilize support staff or junior associates effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctor
• Bachelor's or higher in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science preferred.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
