Job Title: Renewable Energy Project Finance Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A San Francisco-based law firm is seeking a mid-level associate attorney with a strong foundation in project finance and structured asset-based transactions. The role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate on renewable energy and climate-focused infrastructure matters with high-growth clients and seasoned legal professionals. The attorney will support sophisticated financing transactions and help drive sustainable energy development across a dynamic legal practice.

Duties:

  • Handle project finance, non-recourse lending, and asset-based finance transactions

  • Represent stakeholders, including sponsors, developers, lenders, borrowers, and investors

  • Draft and negotiate documentation for secured lending, tax equity investments, and LLC financing structures

  • Advise on joint venture structuring and clean energy transactions

  • Collaborate with partners and senior lawyers in a mentoring-oriented environment

  • Engage in transactions for companies spanning startups to global infrastructure entities

  • Participate in cross-functional deal teams to support complex finance and development initiatives

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of substantive transactional experience in a large law firm setting

  • Demonstrated background in project finance or structured finance

  • Direct involvement in non-recourse lending or infrastructure-based deals

  • Familiarity with clean energy, climate infrastructure, or renewable energy sectors is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar (or willingness to obtain)

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation capabilities

  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team setting

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • High degree of professional judgment and client-service orientation
