Job Overview:
A growing and highly-regarded law firm is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial partner-level attorney to lead its expanding Emerging Companies and Venture Capital (VC) practice. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience counseling VC-backed and emerging companies through their growth cycle, particularly in structuring, formation, and VC financing. This is an exciting opportunity to join a boutique firm with a collaborative, talented team of attorneys and to provide sophisticated legal services to disruptive companies, founders, and investors.

Location:
New York City, NY

Duties:

• Lead and grow the firm’s emerging companies and VC practice, advising startups, founders, and investors on corporate structuring, formation, and financing matters.
• Manage complex venture capital transactions and strategic partnerships for emerging companies across various industries.
• Work closely with clients to address corporate governance, growth strategies, and exit planning.
• Develop and manage strong client relationships, offering high-level strategic advice to support clients through their lifecycle of growth.
• Collaborate with firm’s teams in intellectual property, employment, tax, and litigation to provide a full-service solution to clients.
• Drive business development and generate new client relationships while expanding existing ones.
• Mentor junior associates and build a cohesive, innovative team culture.

Requirements:

• Significant experience in counseling and advising emerging companies, particularly in structuring and financing VC-backed ventures.
• A modest book of portable business, with a proven ability to develop new business.
• Strong legal skills and expertise in corporate law, venture capital, and startup operations.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage client relationships with a client-centric approach.
• Entrepreneurial, ambitious, and driven to expand a practice in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative approach to team building.
• Law firm experience is preferred, but candidates with a background in-house or as solo practitioners will also be considered.

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• Expertise in venture capital financing, business structuring, and emerging company growth.
