Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate for its Employment, Labor & Workforce Management practice in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in employment law counseling and compliance, either in a law firm or in-house setting. A practical, business-oriented approach to advising clients is essential.

Duties

  • Prepare employment handbooks, policies, and agreements with multi-state compliance analysis.
  • Counsel on risk mitigation related to discipline, termination, accommodation requests, and leaves of absence.
  • Provide guidance on wage and hour compliance, background checks, and workplace reorganizations.
  • Conduct workplace investigations.
  • Assist with employment aspects of corporate due diligence and provide employment training.
  • Handle aspects of litigation, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing documents.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of relevant experience in employment law.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of the office location.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate degree required.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar where the office is located.
