Associate Attorney in State and Local Tax

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a talented junior associate with one to three years of experience to join its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice in New York, NY. The associate will work with a diverse range of clients on state and local tax controversy, litigation, consulting, planning, and policy matters.

Duties

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, protests, pleadings, and briefs on SALT issues.
• Support attorneys in multistate audits, administrative appeals, litigation, and settlement negotiations.
• Collaborate with attorneys on complex state and local tax planning and transactions.
• Participate in practice group meetings, trainings, presentations, and business development initiatives.

Requirements

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York bar, in good standing.
• Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and a commitment to professional growth.

Education

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Tax preferred but not required.
