Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate attorney to join its Employment Law Section in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves a dynamic mix of litigation, consulting, and transactional work, providing legal defense in employment litigation, offering proactive litigation avoidance counseling, and advising on business immigration and fair housing matters.

Duties

  • Represent clients in employment-related litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Advise on labor and employment law issues, including discrimination and workplace policies.
  • Assist in discovery processes, including document review and depositions.
  • Participate in client meetings, court appearances, and negotiations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar or eligibility for admission.
  • 2+ years of experience in employment law preferred; other litigation experience considered.
  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Preference for working from the Norfolk office; hybrid or remote options available.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
