Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Art Law Associate to join its Private Client and Tax team in New York. The role involves advising on major art transactions and a variety of legal matters centered around art, both domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will work closely with other practice areas to provide comprehensive legal advice.

Duties

  • Draft, review, and negotiate transactional art law documents and agreements.
  • Handle agreements related to logistics, shipping, and storage of artworks.
  • Research and advise on intellectual property, cultural property, and customs issues.
  • Advise high-net-worth clients on tax structuring and estate planning involving art.
  • Engage in business development activities and build networks with private wealth contacts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience practicing at a law firm.
  • New York Bar membership required.
  • Demonstrated interest in art law and the art market.
  • Strong drafting, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Domestic experience required; international experience a plus.

Education

  • J.D. required; Tax LL.M. is a plus.

  • New York Bar membership.
