A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior-level Economic Development Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of experience advising domestic and international companies on complex expansions and relocations. This role involves managing legal aspects of projects related to corporate headquarters, manufacturing facilities, datacenters, distribution centers, and large offices across sectors such as automotive, life sciences, and aviation. Bar admission is required.

Duties:

  • Advise domestic and international clients on complex expansion and relocation projects, including corporate headquarters, manufacturing facilities, datacenters, distribution centers, and large offices.
  • Provide legal counsel on economic development projects across various sectors, including automotive, life sciences, and aviation.
  • Oversee and manage legal aspects of site selection, land acquisition, and development.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts, agreements, and legal documents related to economic development and real estate transactions.
  • Collaborate with clients, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and implementation.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and stay updated on economic development laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Develop and execute strategies to address legal and regulatory challenges in economic development.
  • Provide strategic advice on zoning, land use, incentives, and compliance issues.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in Illinois.
  • 6-8 years of experience in economic development law, with a focus on expansions and relocations.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects involving corporate facilities and large offices.
  • Experience in sectors such as automotive, life sciences, and aviation is preferred.

Skills:

  • Expertise in economic development law and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong experience in negotiating and drafting legal documents for large-scale development projects.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with various stakeholders.
