Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Attorney - Legal Confirmations in New York, NY. This role is integral to the firm's global legal confirmation risk-management function, ensuring compliance with ABA standards and internal policies. The attorney will collaborate with firm attorneys to manage legal confirmation requests related to clients.

Duties

• Analyze audit response requests to confirm validity and identify corresponding clients and matters.
• Address deficiencies in audit response requests as appropriate.
• Communicate with various departments to gather necessary information for audit letter responses.
• Generate reports and conduct internal database searches accurately.
• Circulate polls to relevant attorneys and assess issues related to required disclosures.
• Communicate with firm attorneys and auditors to resolve process questions.
• Draft, edit, and finalize audit response letters, explaining deviations from standard forms.
• Transmit responses to clients' auditors following partner approval.
• Ensure complete and accurate documentation of each response.
• Assist with testing and evaluation of new procedures and technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Active bar membership and member in good standing.
• 3-4 years of law firm experience.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Word, PDF handling, and Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
• Strong accountability, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills and eagerness to provide high-level service.
• Ability to conduct research using standard legal research tools.
• Excellent judgment in handling privileged and confidential information.
• Availability to work extended hours during peak months.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
