Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Immigration Attorney in Sacramento, CA. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, provide exceptional client service, and support the firm's immigration law practice. This role involves drafting petitions, representing clients in various legal settings, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance firm processes.

Duties

  • Draft and file petitions and legal documents.
  • Advocate at hearings and interviews.
  • Counsel clients on legal strategies.
  • Supervise paralegals in case preparation.
  • Research statutes and case law for client strategies.
  • Consult with clients regarding Adjustment of Status, Citizenship/Naturalization, waivers (I-601a, I-601, I-212), U-visas, VAWA petitions, Asylum, motions, briefs, appeals, SIJS, and more - Family Based and Removal focus.
  • Represent clients at USCIS interviews and immigration courts.
  • Maintain organized case files in Harmony Legal, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Google Workspace
  • Advise on eligibility and risk management.
  • Track legal changes and conduct team trainings.
  • Maintain organized case files using legal software.
  • Communicate with clients in English and Spanish.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • Ability to commute or relocate to Sacramento, CA.

Education

  • Doctorate degree required.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Google Workspace.
